Traveling to Bhutan
Traveling to Bhutan not as complicated as it has been known to many people in Bhutan. It is in fact the most hassle free traveling. Travelers can travel to Bhutan either own their own or through a Tour Operator. All the tour operators closely monitored by the Department of Tourism (Previously Tourism Council of Bhutan). A certified guide is must.
Indian Nationals
It is easy for Indian Nationals to travel to Bhutan. Unlike other Nationals they do not need Bhutan visa, however they will have to pay a Sustainable Development fund of INR 1200 per person per day in addition to their Bhutan Travel cost. The following documents are required to travel to Bhutan:
- A Valid Indian passport (With a Validity of Minimum 6 months from the date of exit from Bhutan), OR a Voter ID
- For kids who have not attained the age for a voter ID can travel with a Birth certificate in English
- Covid 19 vaccination certificate
- Travel Insurance
- Passport Size Photographs
Incase the guests are traveling on their own, hotel booking details and a guide is compulsory. All trekking has to be booked through a Tour operator.
Other Foreign Nationals
Guests can either travel through a Tour Operator such as Neptune Holidays – Bhutan or Travel own their own. They guests will have to pay a sustainable Development Fund of USD 100 per person per night (till 2027) and a visa fee of USD 40 per person in addition to their Bhutan Travel cost.

It is important to book your Bhutan tour/ trek atleast 2 months before, if you are travelling to Bhutan during high season (March, April, May, September, October, November) and atleast 4 months before, if you are traveling during festival times, specially the Paro, Thimphu and the Bumthang festivals.
All our tour are guided tours and you shall be taken care off as soon as you enter Bhutan. You shall have your guide and driver waiting for you at the Airport or the Phuentsholing Gate, if you are entering via land.
